[2358] 2018 Postage Rates

Date: January 24th, 2018 | Comments : [2] | Categories: DIY.

US Postage rates increased for 2018. Domestic postage (to the 50 US states) was increased by 50 cents for a small package with tracking.

However, the rates on all International packages containing merchandise have almost doubled, and are now a minimum of $14 US. The post office computers do not allow the desk clerks to accept small flat envelopes as anything other than packages. Sorry, but I do not have a solution yet to this rate increase for shipments outside the USA. I can still ship Internationally, but only at the new rate.

The rate and policy change by the US Postal Service has had a big impact on many businesses that ship small, light envelopes. Almost half of my orders are for International shipments and I suspect that the new postage rate will have a significant impact on this. I will continue to look for an alternate solution so that I can ship small envelopes Internationally at a lower price.

The USPS also deactivated the software that I used to print customs forms. Now, they only allow access if you buy postage at the same time as filling out the form.

This is total nonsense, and means that I have to now fill out the paper form by hand instead of copy/paste the address from the Paypal receipt.

Not sure if this will work for you Jack, but how about setting up a simple spread sheet that you can use to print out labels for the postage??

I used to do it with Works, now I guess it’s Office, but it worked well for me..
